Rolling stock contract for Phase 1 of Cairo Metro Line 4 - MC & Kinki Sharyo

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), the prime contractor, and The Kinki Sharyo Co., Ltd. (Kinki Sharyo) announced yesterday 09 November that they have signed a contract worth approximately 40 billion Yen (355 million US dollars) with the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) to deliver 184 cars of rolling stock for Phase 1 of Cairo Metro Line 4 (New CP 412).

Those trains will be delivered from 2025 to 2028. Cairo Metro Line 4 Phase 1 is approximately a 19-km line with 16 stations in total. It's expected that it would be open in 2028.


The above-mentioned contract is the third one since the announcement of Siemens Mobility of a historic contract for a High-Speed line last September and Alstom's largest metro rolling stock contract for Cairo's Metro Line 1.


Egypt's first High-Speed Line - Siemens Mobility

Last September, Siemens Mobility (SM) announced that it has signed a contract with NAT to design, install, commission, and maintain the first high-speed line in the country and the second one in Africa.

The contract consists of 660 km linking the port cities of Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea to Marsa Matrouh and Alexandria on the Mediterranean in addition to the rail infrastructures, trains, locomotives, and related services. SM will partner with Orascom Construction and The Arab Contractors for this project to complete all aspects of the project.



Cairo's - Alstom

Last Monday, an 876 million euro contract with NAT to deliver 55 9-car Metropolis trains in addition to an 8-year maintenance contract for the upgrade of the first-ever metro line in Africa and Egypt, Cairo Metro Line 1. These trains will be equipped with digital solutions like real-time passenger information, dynamic route maps, video displays, and video surveillance.
